One of the many reasons why being targeted was so brutal was because the home burners took advantage of the legal zeitgeist. Meaning, they took advantage of the "spirit of the times". 

The last four years have done more to destroy our legal system than any other point in the history of our country. This is not said with political bias, this is said with observation obtained before
