Even the most violent of criminals insists on his own innocence, and as long as refusing to admit guilt favors the
suspect, the suspect will always refuse to admit his participation. So, evidence is what we have to eliminate the other
possibilities, and evidence aids our discovery of motive, opportunity, and reason.
