+The second time this occurred, not only was it fairly evident the intent was to target and inflict harm on our home and family in order to make us "pay" for some illconcieved vendetta, but from the beginning the attack has remained too organized and well coordinated for it not to have been contrived with premeditated machination. +We practically know nothing of her outside of our dealings with role as the county's Zoning Administrator. Which appears to be another politically favored hiring by the Lamar County government. We do know she managed to get the position without any prior experience in zoning or regulatory affairs. We also have suspicions over what was the real motivation behind her hiring, was it because they knew she could be controlled, or because of political favor to someone.

+If you take the time to read the chain of emails that occurred between us, you will see that misrepresenting county law was the least of her offenses. She often took it up on herself to fabricate county law on the spot, and misrepresented the truth two or three times through out the dialogue. The application of a double standard is evident, and there is no skirting the fact her actions were often unlawful by nature.

+### Begin
+
+Our family has known Chief Matthews' Mother from her time attending the local methodist church. Her son, Doug entered the scene when their family purchased land that was subdivided and sold to them by their relative Brian Alex Abernathy. Growing up with Chief Matthews, we didn't have any hard feelings toward him. In fact, in highschool, during his first year of marching band, and we even tried to look out for him. Not that he needed it, or we were able to help in any way, but there was a desire to try to like him.

+### Glare
+
+Then one day while talking to classmates in the hallways of Gordon College, and completely out of the blue, we noticed Doug was there. A few moments later we caught him staring right at us, scourering with discontent and digust. It was evident what he thought of us, because it was written all over his face. We remember thinking to ourself, "Shame on you, you have no reason to do that." The event made a deep impression on us as the body language was unmistakeable, and we are pretty sure the glare was not intended to be noticed. It was from that day forward we began to look at him with caution, and noticed how the shine of being the golden child of the community started to wear off.

+### Property Involvement
+
+Since the appearance of donut tire tracks in our front yard during 2019, Doug has been the primary antagonist in the lives of our family and our home. He was the primary instigator in the development of the property that faces our home. Property which Doug violated state Law by brokering himself without ownership or licensing in order to purchase a different property for himself at a reduced price from the same owner. This is clearly illegal and crooked, but is only punished with a $500 fine in the state of Georgia, and is not worth the paperwork or energy to file a complaint on. Doug was fully aware of our family's need to purchase the property to sustain our way of life, to make our own farm productive, and to sustain the legacy of our grandfather. Five attempts were made to contact the owner of the property, who our family has known and remained on good terms with since 1971, but uncustomary of our exchanges, these went attempts went unanswered. Yet, Doug admitted to being fully aware of our attempts and the contents of those letters. Which was private communications in regards to business matters. We were able to make contact with the oldest son of the property owner, who was unaware of our attempts to communicate with his father. Which leads one to concluding that somehow Doug's involvement in affair as illegal broker, is connected to the reason why our letters were not replied to, and our family opportunity to purchase that property was denied. Also as a result of his involvement in the affair, all of a sudden we are no longer on good terms with the family of someone we have known since before I was born. We welcomed their father into the neighborhood and offered him friendship and good neighbors for over 45 years, to have Doug walk in, and then they turn around and throw all those years and us too under a bus.

+### Known Smear Pusher
+
+It is pretty evident Doug is participating in a smear campaign, because anytime we have been introduced to an associate of his, we have continually found ourselves being treated like absolute trash by someone we have never met for no reason whatsoever. His involvement inciting the individual to hate or violence is fairly obvious to see, and only serves to discredit his own integrity.

+### Fabricator of Allegations
+
+He is also connected with the fabricated allegations of elder abuse against our family member, which would constitute an abuse of his office as fire chief to influence law enforcement to raide our house. His former wife knew about it in advance, and drove by the house to observe it occurring. Not once, but twice. Then had the gall to intimate he knew the details of the raid in conversation.

+### Documented acts of harassment
+
+He must fashion himself as a bully, who is justified in pushing people around. On one occasion he has driven to our house, didn't even have the courtesy to knock, and screamed his head off for us to come out. We were in the yard of the property next door, and could hear what was occurring. When we returned to the house, we found a pair of tire tracks where Chief Matthews had spun out on our front yard. He has also stopped in front of our house and screamed out, "I am watching you!", while we were inside at work.

+### Protected by the County
+
+We have filed numerous complaints against Chief Matthews with both the county administrator, Sean Townson, and the Chairman of the County Commissioners, Ryran Traylor. Both are completely aware of all the above. Ryran ignores 99.8% of our attempts to contact him and does nothing. Nathan, grantedly is more proactive, he has the courtesy to inform us of his intent to ignore every complaint made by our family regardless of evidence or act performed. This violates county law, but at least we know he has a pulse.

+Ryran Traylor is the chairman of The Lamar County Commissioners and a professor of Business Management at Gordon State College. Prior to this, he was the county commissioner that represented our area.

+We have known Ryran for years, and thought highly of him. He is polite in person, but we have felt betrayed occasionally. We have tried to be friendly, gone out of our way to make excuses for him, but feel we were just bitten in the ass for it.

+We are unaware of the level of his involvement, but made it clear how devastating not enforcing the law would be to our family. We looked at him in the face, told him what our home meant to our family, how what was happening to us would destroy us, and he turned around and did it anyway. Then refused to respond to our emails.

+It would not be surprising in the least to discover he was deeply involved in what occurred from the start, which is something he has yet to express concern enough to clarify. It's beginning to appear this was just a power trip he chose to go on. Regardless, because of either his inability to act or his active involvement, he is just as responsible for what happened to our home and family as the rest of them. He knew what was going on, and either was encouraging it or doing nothing to stop it, but he knew, he still is protecting the individuals the people who are recorded stalking members of our family, destroyed our home with illegal building practices, and tried to run us into the ground. His weakness of moral fiber is what allowed this to happen, and that makes him responsible.

+He knows all of this, because we have written him, pleaded for him to do something, and then when he sided to protect those who admitted to doing all of this and violating the law, we told him we would be fighting this injustice with every ounce of our being until the day we die. What was done to us was anathema, it was vile, hateful, and reprehensibly wrong. He helped cause it.

+Scott Mayfield is an attorney with Smith, Welch, and Webb Law associates here in Barnesville, Ga. He became acting attorney for the county prior to the beginning of our family's difficulties. Of all the real estate attorney's used by the group of property developers who target our family, one per contract, they used everyone but him. This has allowed him to avoid any conflict of interest representing both the county and the developers. He is the attorney that advised the county to ignore our complaints regarding the illegal and documented construction practices occurring on the property beside us. It is safe to assume he has also advised the county to ignore the numerous complaints we have made about the Fire Chief violating the law and neglecting his duties of office, and the zoning administrator's misrepresentation of state law.

+In regards to the on going violations occurring on both development projects, the violations were admitted by the developers themselves, so there was no dispute over matter of factness regarding whether the violations occurred or not, because both parties agreed on their occurrence. Mr. Mayfield only used a legal technicality to allow the county to further ignore the mounting number of violations and the millions of dollars in potential revenue the county was refusing to pursue from the illegal activity. The technicality occurred because our property is held by the estate of our late grandmother, and because the courts are waiting for the closing of the estate to occurr in order to be certain who is the actual property owner, we cannot bring the matter before the court as a property owner. It does not mean the illegal acts did not occurr, nor does it mean we do not have the right to defend our inheritance, it just means we have to be the property owner to bring up the matter in a lawsuit regarding property law. It does not prevent anyone else from pursuing the matter.

+His argumentation for the refusal was rather odd, because it did not protect the county from any future legal issues that might arise, nor did it bring the county in alignment with federal law. The only party that truly benefited from the use of the technicality were the developers who performed the violations. Which is very odd, indeed. You would think his obligation as an officer of the court to represent the legal interest of the taxpayers and uphold the law would take precidence over protecting those who admitted to violating the law, but we do not know for certain.

+We do know Mayfield was employed as county attorney while also being employed as the attorney for the county waste management authority, which presented a conflict of interest when the county began to look into the finances of the waste management authority. We do know that attorneys face extremely strict standards when it comes to conflicts of interests, and that his involvement as representing both parties resulted in him being relieved of his duties by the waste authority.

+All of this raises suspicion over his involvement in the affair. As mentioned throughout this site, except for having a signed confession, all signs point to the involvement of an unscroupulous legal counsel. Why would he protect the developers and not uphold the law while protecting the county, unless he was somehow involved with the developers? When asked this, Mr. Mayfield did not deny it, he simply stated "I will not answer that." Which, as pointed out to him, does not bring an end to the suspicions regarding this matter, but if anything, increases them.
